Lyn G Farrell talks about her debut novel, The Wacky Man, and shares her experiences of getting her work published.

Winner of the 2015 Luke Bitmead Bursary, Lyn’s story focuses on Amanda as she hopes for a better future as her family disintegrates, and for a way out from the violence and fear that have consumed her childhood. Can she cling to her sanity before insanity itself is her only means of escape?

The Daily Mail called her novel a ‘tour de force’ and Clio Gray, Man Booker and Baileys Prize nominated author, named it her ‘book of the year’.

Lyn grew up in Littleborough, studied Psychology as an undergraduate and gained a master’s degree in ICT and Education at the University of Leeds. She currently works in the School of Education at Leeds Beckett University and is working on her second novel, a story about the healing power of unusual friendship.
