We are pleased to welcome back to the festival, Gervase Phinn. Comedian, author, poet, broadcaster, lecturer, educational guru, after-dinner speaker and “born raconteur” (The Guardian) – he is perhaps best known for his warm-hearted reminiscences about his life as a school inspector in the Yorkshire Dales and for his best-selling ‘Little Village School’ series of novels. Affectionately dubbed ‘the James Herriot of Schools’, Gervase has written a wide range of academic books, short stories, children’s poetry and fiction.

This evening Gervase talks about his life and his writing, whilst giving an insight into his latest book, The School at the Top of the Dale.
