Sir Michael Parkinson forced to cancel appearance
Sir Michael Parkinson has had to cancel his appearance at the festival while he recovers from a back operation.
The chat show legend was due to appear at the Gracie Fields Theatre in Rochdale next month as part of our 7 day festival.
His agent released a statement saying Sir Michael recently visited hospital in order to undergo minor surgery on his back:
“Though unexpected, this was a routine and successful operation. Healing time for the procedure usually takes around 6 to 8 weeks to make a full recovery, so as advised by his doctors, Sir Michael will be taking this time to recuperate. In light of this, Sir Michael will be altering his schedule accordingly, meaning that unfortunately he won’t be able to attend the Rochdale festival this year.”
Sir Michael said he plans to appear at the festival in 2018: “I’m sorry to disappoint and apologies for the late notice but sadly it was unavoidable. I hope to be back to my best soon and I look forward to performing in Rochdale next year.”
Ticket holders who booked online will automatically receive a refund, whilst those who booked in person are asked to visit Touchstones Rochdale from Wednesday, 13 September 2017 with their tickets for a refund. See the Touchstones Rochdale opening times.
